Since 1973, Freedom House has assessed the condition of political rights and civil liberties around the world. It is used on a regular basis by policymakers, journalists, academics, activists, and many others.

Freedom House rates people’s access to political rights and civil liberties in 210 countries and territories through its annual Freedom in the World report.

The below graph provides an analysis of free, partly free, not free countries in the world in 2024.







We have seen a decline in the number of countries considered free from 2007 to 2024 as shown in the below graph.
